Laura Hale has taught piano at her home studio in Menlo Park since 1999. She received a BS from Northwestern University in Human Development and Public Policy and a JD from the University of Wisconsin. After a brief foray practicing law she u-turned back to education and taught early childhood and adult programs for many years in the Bay Area, most recently at the Menlo-Atherton Cooperative NurserySchool.
Always an avid piano enthusiast she resumed the lessons she hadbegun as a child and soon was able to combine her vocations. Realizing that it takes more than love and an ability to work with children to be an excellent piano teacher, she went backto school to earn a Masters in Piano. After 6 years, during which time she continued to teach, raise her two sons and act as parent liaison for the Menlo Atherton High School Band, she earned her Masters in Music from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California.
Ms. Hale is a member of the Music Teachers Association of California. Her philosophy is that with hard work, positive spirit and parental support, all children can learn to playpiano with joy and skill. As an adult learner herself (She continues to take private lessons from two very patient Bay Area teachers), she identifies with the challenges of her own adult learners and is a friendly guide toward mindful piano enlightenment.
Laura works from her home on Santa Margarita Avenue where she lives with her husband, John and a large assortment of pets.
